Our Team
Tim Rowland, CPA, CA

I joined the firm in 1990 after completing my CPA articles with the National Firm of Deloitte Touche in Calgary. I became a partner of the firm in 1992 and practice primarily with small to midsized owner operated business providing services in taxation, succession and estate planning, and financial advisory services. I also have a keen interest in agriculture businesses given the sector’s unique tax laws and the planning opportunities they present that are not afforded by conventional businesses.

I currently sit on the Ponoka Minor Hockey Board of Directors and have sat on past work committees and service groups within the community of Ponoka.

Gord Parker, CPA, CA

I was born and raised in Ponoka, moved to Edmonton for 7 years, and returned to Ponoka to raise my family.  I started at Rowland Parker & Associates in May of 2000, and am one of the Partners in the firm.

I am married to my wonderful wife, Jennifer, and we have 3 children.  We still have two daughters at home and are soon approaching our empty nest years and any life changes that may entail with cautious interest.

I have a Bachelor of Commerce and Chartered Accountant Designation.  I work with a wide variety of clients providing them with assurance services, advice on taxation matters and assisting them with planning for business decisions, estate and succession matters. I am responsible for many of the firms assurance engagements in the not-for-profit, local government organizations and other managed businesses sectors.

I have been a member in a number of community organizations, and enjoy spending my free time with family activities and pursuits.

Alison Rowland, CPA, CA

I was born and raised in Ponoka. I did leave the county limits for a short stint where I headed to Calgary to obtain my Bachelor of Commerce and pursue my CA designation. Upon the completion of my CA designation in 1998 I returned to Central Alberta to get out of the city and to work at a small rural Chartered Accounting office to gain exposure to agriculture and small business. I eventually found my way back to Ponoka to join the Rowland and Parker team.

I became a partner of Rowland Parker in 2000 and continue to enjoy the diversity a small rural practice has to offer. My practice focus is primarily on small businesses as I enjoy the energy of entrepreneurs and the exposure to a variety of industries, including medical practices, agriculture, retail, oil and gas, and owner managed small business. The best part of my job is the exposure we get to all aspects of operating a business, including taxation, finance, and everything in between.

In my spare time I enjoy the gym, spending time at the lake with my kids, and being outside away from my desk.

Margo Hatala, CPA, CA

I was born and raised in Ponoka but moved to Edmonton for a short time to obtain my Bachelor of Management degree with a Major in Accounting.  I currently live just outside of Ponoka with my husband Jesse, and our boys Winston and Flint.  In our spare time you will find us outside, most likely doing something with our horses.

I obtained my CA designation in 2010 and started with Rowland Parker & Associates shortly after.  My practice has a nice mix of profit and not-for-profit clients, providing them with accounting, assurance, and tax services.  The business advisory part of my practise I find to be very rewarding.   I love to guide clients through all the unknowns that come with the various stages of their business cycles (ie. starting a business, expanding their current business, getting the next generation involved in the business, succession planning, etc.).  In recent years I have also started presenting to groups on the topic of estate planning.  There are various tax implications depending on the property held that people need to consider when drafting their estate plan to ensure their wishes are able to be executed.  This is a hard topic that the majority of people like to put on the back burner.  If I can get a client to start thinking about their estate plan and eventually start executing that plan, my day is made! Lastly, I also work closely with the firm's articling students that are pursuing their accounting designations to provide them with mentorship and instruction.

Lloyd R. (Mike) Parker, CPA, CA

I came to work as a student at a predecessor firm for Rowland, Parker & Associates in August of 1965,  received my CA designation in 1972, and became a partner in the firm shortly thereafter.

I am married to Joanne, a now retired school teacher here in Ponoka, and we have 4 grown children, and 8 grandchildren.

I recently retired from the partnership and currently act as an Associate with the firm,  which is allowing me less and less time spent in the office, and more time for pursuing things I enjoy such as golf and travelling, and spending time at our lake lot.

Howard G. Rowland, CPA, CA

I started with Rowland Parker & Associates on September 1, 1962 as an articling student when the firm was Lindskog, Wheeler & Co.  I am one of the partners in the firm, and one of my specialty areas would be Farm Taxation.

I was born in Scotland, and arrived in Canada with my family in January 1946.  I still live in Ponoka, with my wife of over 50 years, Patricia.  We have 4 grown children and 7 grandchildren.  Tim, the oldest, is a CA and is also a partner in the firm.  Greg is also a CA, and is currently working in the resource industry.  Christine is a Human Resources Officer with our health region, and Alison, a CA, is also a partner in the firm.

I have served on many provincial and community organizations over the years, and continue to be involved in local health related organizations.

In my spare time, I like to get outdoors and play tennis or golf, and do gardening and logging.

Bond Prediger, CPA

I was born and raised in Ponoka and returned after graduated from the University of Calgary – Haskayne School of Business with my Bachelor of Commerce. I have the privilege of working at Rowland, Parker and Associates since the completion of my degree in May of 2011. In September 2019 I passed the CFE exam and received my CPA designation.

Ponoka offers the quality of lifestyle my husband, Steve, our daughter Foster and I enjoy. We built our home in Ponoka County where we raise Simmental cattle.

In our spare time we enjoy riding, working out, and travelling with friends and family.

Brigid Guy

After graduating, I worked as a Dietary Technologist until I had children.  I wanted a stay-at-home job when my kids were growing up, so I became a bookkeeper.  Now that my kids are grown, I wanted a new bookkeeping challenge, and to join the outside work world, which led me to Rowland Parker & Associates in October of 2013.

I have lived in Rimbey and numerous other places, and came to Ponoka just over 15 years ago.  I have a grown daughter who is a year away from becoming a chiropractor, and a married daughter who has just made me a grandma.

I love to read, travel to warm destinations, run and work in our yard with my boyfriend, Curtis.

Brooke Boser

I started my employment with Rowland, Parker & Associates in January of 2020. Having just completed my maternity leave with my son, when I heard of the job opportunity it was something that I could not pass up a chance at. I have completed my first tax season with the firm and cannot wait to continue working with such a wonderful work family.

I moved to Ponoka in 2000 when my family got transferred here with work. After high school I moved to Edmonton for two years to attend post-secondary school at NAIT and obtained a diploma in Business Administration – Accounting. The big city was never where I wanted to be so I moved back to Ponoka and am now currently residing on a farm 15 minutes north of town with my family. I am a mom to two beautiful children, a teenage step-daughter and an infant son. I am the kind of girl that loves to spend time with my family, read a good book, and spend as much time outside as possible.

Carolyn Gossen

My husband and I returned to Alberta in 2017, moving to Ponoka from Summerside, PEI to be in a central location closer to children and grandchildren.  Over many years, I have worked my way up in the accounting industry to Senior Technician, and when given the opportunity in October 2018 to work for Rowland Parker & Associates and be close to home, there really was no decision to be made.  I am very excited for the opportunity to continue my career in accounting in such a great work environment.

Our combined family now has 7 children and 14 grandchildren, all living in various communities in Alberta, except one son, daughter-in-law, and 3 granddaughters who live in Tampa, Florida.  A great excuse for a travel destination.  We love to spend time with our family and friends and when time permits a little golf and curling.

I grew up on a farm near Blackfoot, Alberta, where my parents and brothers still farm. I met my husband while I was still in high school, so decided to attend Medicine Hat College so that he wouldn’t have to make the 5 hour drive every other week to come visit me. We got married in 1996 and moved to Lethbridge so that he could attend University.  We moved a few more times before settling in Ponoka in 2002.

In my spare time I enjoy dancing, visiting with family and friends, and playing with our very busy border collie, Lily.

I came to Ponoka in Grade 2, moved away after high school, and eventually moved back.  I am a Ponoka lifer!!  I have an adorable havanese, Sulley, and he is definitely my baby….yes dogs are harder than children because they never grow up or move out!

Having just began working at Rowland, Parker and Associates in January 2020, I am very new to the team but I am excited to be here! I was born and raised on a farm in the Thorsby, AB area and will always love a small town.  After high school I obtained my Bachelor of Commerce Degree majoring in accounting at the University of Alberta.  I married my sweetheart and worked at an accounting firm prior to starting my family and then transitioned into helping with all aspects of our own oilfield contracting service company while raising our three children.  We bought our own farm, south of Pigeon Lake, in 2012 and there is never a lack of work to be done, particularly around harvest time. I enjoy the outdoors very much especially camping, riding horses, hunting, back country pack trips, running and really anything that keeps me active.  As a family we like to take part in all types of sports and activities, whether watching or playing, especially hockey, gymnastics, skiing and anything that lets us spend time with family and friends.
